Fox Searchlight Pictures Presents Black Nativity: Starring Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Nas and More
This fall, Kasi Lemmons' presents a contemporary adaptation of Langston Hughes' celebrated play, Black Nativity.
The film, a musical, follows Langston (Jacob Latimore), a street-wise teen from Baltimore raised by a single mother who sends him to Harlem to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged grandparents (Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett). Unwilling to live by the imposing and old fashion rules of his grandparents, a frustrated Langston is determined to return home to his mother, Naima (Jennifer Hudson).
The story follows Langston as he embarks on a surprising and inspirational journey where he meets new friends (Nas, Tyrese Gibson, and Mary J Blige) and discovers the true meaning of faith, healing, and family.
The film opens November 27, 2013 in theaters everywhere.
